Beth sarim:of course your right. music is very stiring and often used to promote a reaction in people
Phizzy:so songs of praise is still going strong? a bit like coronation street!
i was just explaining to mrs picard........ never a jw, and not english, how we used to celebrate the harvest festival, when i was 7 and younger, before my parents converted to jw'ism.. i loved to sing "we plough the fields and scatter".
of course, singing such hymns is, to a jw, paramount to apostasy, with the death penalty like punishment the ensued.. how really stupid their harsh rules.. did you have any favourite hymns?.
i think we would all agree, that they beat the pants off the "kingdom melodies".

so i was eagerly (add sarcasm) awaiting the co visit this week.
for once because is less work being at the meeting.
i just have to sit down and listen.
hello friends.
my fleshy sister is seriously getting to my nerves.
she's my only (and younger) sister, and as you know, is married to an uber-circuit overseer.
I commisurate with your feelings mrs eden. The problem is:for most jws, your sister included, they just dont know how to talk about normal things.Their sphere of knowledge/interests is just soooo limited.
why would you proceed to invite me to their meetings?
wtf?
how much clearer can i make my stance????
I sometimes wonder who shunning is meant to protect : them? or maybe us.
a young sister in my husband's congregation who is the daughter of an elder has been reinstated in a matter of months.
whereas another sister in the same congregation has been disfellowshipped now for nearly two years!.
seems like it's who you know..
ex mrs picard, daughter of an elder, has never been disfellowshipped. lived with one guy for 2 years and now "has a new boyfriend every month"according to my son.
i though, was disfellowshipped double quick, when they knew about mrs p and I,even though I was living 1000 miles away.
as my mum said " jehovah sees all" lol
how many times did we have to hear this?
just another way to make you feel guilty for wanting to spend time improving yourself or enjoying life outside the organization.
to think of all the people that died waiting for the "real life" that is not coming is actually very sad and depressing.

i want my sun drenched wind swept Ingred Burgman kiss, not in the next life, I want it in this, I want it in this"

T'was my theme song when I left the borg
